Sapphire Moon

Program Note:

When I was 9 years old, my family took a trip to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, and I remember that one night, we decided to walk along the boardwalk at night. We started walking at the beach, but then the boardwalk eventually took us to a more urban part of the town we were in. We bought ice cream somewhere, and then went back to the place we were staying at. The broader structure of this piece is an abstraction of my memories of going from moonlit beach to urban area and then back to moonlit beach (the piece doesn’t specifically take place in South Carolina)
